Reaching out to are vast community looking for iver johnson revolver owners I just bought one that's gonna need a little tlc so I need to pick some brains. I'm waiting on the transfer of a early 1920's hammer safety automatic revolver. The one known issue is the cylinder does not rotate as it should. I was told it needed a star wheel.20170822_181457.jpg20170822_181518.jpg20170822_181446.jpg

Updated it thanks for that I spaced

BTDT. Yup, if the extractor "teeth" are worn, that would certainly affect rotation and cylinder-bore alignment. I suspect it will be difficult to find that part up here, though :( Once you actually get it you'll have a better idea of the problem, such as whether all the extractor teeth are worn or just a couple. Sounds like the kind of problem that could require building up the extractor teeth and re-machining. Possibly a fun project if you have the time and tools but prohibitively expensive if you have to get a gunsmith to work on it. OTOH, I read a post on the S&W Forum where some guy got a really good deal on a revolver because the dealer said, "The guy who brought it in said he couldn't get it to shoot on target." Problem: Didn't know/notice that it had adjustable sights!f:P:

That pic reminded me of an old Iver Johnson "Hammer the Hammer" Safety revolver 38 S&W with mother-of-pearl grips that I found in a box of my grandfather's stuff wen I was a kid. I played with it so much that my parents got a bit worried (about...?) and I think they surreptitiously dumped it off the boat one day (!!!). Pity- it had a 4" barrel and if we could have kept it "undiscovered" for a few years until I was older before "discovering" it, I could have registered it and would now be grandfathered for 12.6.
