Calling the Luger experts

Whatever. How could my opinion land someone in jail? If anything its the other way around since I said they cannot get the prohibited.

"Whatever"....the OP specifically asked for "experts"....not guys who obviously don't have a clue.....so why *exactly* did you feel qualified to chime in? Do you consider yourself an "expert" or are you just shooting for post count? Just curious....

Been collecting these for many years, sure it's an interesting pistol. All previous comments agreed...

Luger Variations as follows:

Military P08 4 in bbl 12-6
Commercial 4 3/4 bbl cal 7.65mm
Navy 6 in bbl, rare & expensive
Artillery 8 in bbl
Carbine...(you wont see that one)...

Just to muddy the waters, I believe that Stoeger now owns the Luger marque. Didn't they manufacture some in the '60s? You don't see those around either. I think there was also a gunsmith in Germany who was "remanufacturing" Lugers from mismatched guns. (Although I'd guess he'd have to call them Pistole Parabellum 09, thanks to Stoeger.)

Then of course there is the ultimate Unobtanium- the .45 cal. Lugers that were made on a trial basis for the US Army tests before they adopted the 1911. Perhaps only three made, only two known to exist (?)

Fellow by the name of Martz, John (I think) also builds 45 Lugers (among other calibers). Google his work, guy is phenomenal . - dan

Thank you, Dan! That's the guy I was thinking of. Pretty fine work. I remember seeing some Luger carbines he'd done. But as they say, "If you have to ask the price..."
