Came across a bunch of reloading gear - need advice

I saw an add in the classifieds for a scope for sale. I went to see the lady advertising the scope and when I asked her where she got it she said she inherited it. On a hunch I asked her if she had any other hunting related equipment and she showed me a bunch of reloading gear in her garage that she wanted to get rid of.

I made her an offer to take the whole lot off her hands and she accepted

I attached photos of the gear. If you click on the photo twice it should show a larger image.

The boxes of bullets and tools contain the items listed on the label (except for the steel ammo boxes.) There is also some powder that I did not take pictures of. Regarding the powder, if a can has been opened is it best to dispose of it?

I don’t know much about the value of relaoding equipment so if anyone could give me some indication of the value of the items it would be much appreciated.

Nice haul

Wonder where the rest of it is,I don't see a press other than a lubrisizer.
The powder i would be careful with as you don't know if the bottle's contain the stated ingredients.
 
Blueskies, from the looks of that stuff, the powder is most likely just fine.

On Mar 10-11, there is a big gun show coming up in Chilliwack.

Take that stuff in there or go in and talk to a few guys.

Have the stuff in your trunk in the parking lot.

It won't last long.

What's in the milsurp boxes??? The rest of the presses.

You have a great casting set up and some swaging dies with cups and wire.

If you have the firearms for the stuff, learn how to use it all and fly at it.
 
Nice haul. Dont trust unknown source powders. It will make good garden fertilizers. If the can is still sealed I would trust it. If you have any concerns send it to me and ill dispose of it for you :)

learn to cast and use those molds buddy. Or again send to a good home (mine again:))

Well over $2000 worth of stuff. Likely $3000 +. I hope the lady made out ok on her end of the deal. If I die I hope my wife knows enough to sell my stuff for what it's worth and not what she thinks it's worth.

I called a lady one time who advetised a pump action browning trombone takedown .22 that she had advertised at $75. It was her dad's and she just wanted it gone. According to her a nice fellow came and gave $100 for the gun and refused to take the $25 change. When I told her he likely felt guilty for walking away with a $400 to $600 gun depending on condition she almsot started to cry.

Sometimes it is wiser to keep opinions to oneself as it serves no good purpose and does tend to make others feel bad or foolish. In this case, that woman will remember that for the rest of her life.

This a good example of why anyone should keep a good record of what they have, what they paid for it, and what it is worth on the day the record was made (the present time.) Hyenas have a habit of showing up before the body has cooled offering low sums for items, especially when they know that guns were involved or collected.

I agree that there is probably $2000 worth of stuff there, and if you can not use it, it could be resold at a Gun Show. There is a press there, an H type in the top left corner of the second picture.
 
Wow, I honestly did not think it was worth that much. I'm happy to hear that although I do feel a little guilty that I paid the lady less than what it was worth.

Thanks, I think I will flush the opened powder just to be sure.

On the powder if you are not sure of the quality use it as a fertilizer on the lawn. I have had some go bad and just put it in a wide mouth container and stood in the yard an swung my arm. Pehaps to get reasonable prices on this equipment if you are going to sell it, you maybe able to get a gun shop or a fellow shooter to look the stuff over and come up with reasonable prices. Just looking it up on line to see what new retail prices are will give you a good idea about used prices. You can get a bit of an idea off the EE if something hasn`t sold it`s likely priced to high, it helps if you have been in the reloading game for awhile you get an idea what stuff will bring and condition means a lot. The bullets hold value well as they are consumables and guys are always buying more. Molds will sell well if they are of a popular caliber. You have a lot of stuff from the pictures, go slow and you should do well.

Could be a loading press converted from an old drill press. Hard to tell from a top down pic. I have a buddy who converted a drill press to a universal decapper. Also converted a 10 ton press from PA for sizing/decapping. Never underestimate the power of imagination.
