Cameraland/Swarovski question ??

So I'm buying my dad a pair of Swarovski binoculars for his birthday.

I check out Cameraland's website and I see that all international orders are to be paid by (FRAUD ALERT) only.

Huh?

Anyone ever order something from them using a credit card?
I'm not setting up a (FRAUD ALERT) account for one purchase.

Anybody else know a dealer in Canada that has good pricing on Swarovski's and has some stock?

Ordered a spotting scope just a little while ago, they took CC information over the phone and were a pleasure to deal with.Shipping was awesomely fast also.

That is a fairly new thing on the website. I haven't ordered anything from them for a while, i.e since before that (FRAUD ALERT) only rule appeared, and might never again since I hate (FRAUD ALERT). But I think you don't have to open an actual (FRAUD ALERT) account to buy through (FRAUD ALERT), only to sell. I think for buying (FRAUD ALERT) can charge your credit card without you opening a (FRAUD ALERT) account.

But first, try calling Doug at CameraLand, maybe he won't apply their international rule to Canadians. It's his business, he can bend or break his own rules if he wants to.

And please let us know how it turns out. They have excellent deals on great optics, I would love to know I can buy from them still/again without going through (FRAUD ALERT).

I ordered a pair of binos yesterday from Doug and gave him my credit card info over the phone. This is my first purchase from them and they were great to deal with.

There web site does not do canadian cards but they will over the phone. Bought a spotting scope and binos last year this way. mentioned I was a CGN member and all was super smooth.

Well I gotta say I'm pretty impressed.

Spoke with Neil yesterday and other than a small glitch on Visa's part the transaction went smooth.

It's refreshing to actually talk to a human being on the phone when ordering something.

Hmmmm, might have to upgrade my Leica's this summer.

Binos arrived today which happens to be his birthday.

He was beyond happy. Of course he gave me hell for spending that kind of money on a gift so I gave him my standard reply....

"But father, nothing but the best for you. But remember, when you die I'll inherit them so why not buy quality"?
