Camo Browning pump paint gone sticky

Back very close to Bruce County
While up moose hunting my son showed me his BPS on which the camo paint has become real sticky. It has a synthetic stock and you can easily scrape the paint off with a fingernail. The paint on the metal is still firm and not sticky. The gun is around 13 years old and was bought new.
Has anyone else seen this or is it just something that happens with age which would be the pits.
 
There is a class action against browning for that duratouch finish they used. Contact browning and they will send you a new stock set. They actually replaced my 12 year old browning Gold hunter because they could not get the parts.
 
Didn't they want you to shop the gun to the US for stock replacement? With a ridiculous turn around time? I seem to remember having this conversation with someone not long ago and the hassle involved was to the point of not being worth it.

Nope, I dealt with Browning Canada out of Quebec and they didn't require me to send in the gun for inspection. They were going to mail out the stock set and I was going to install it myself. After two months of waiting they sent me a new gun and a pre-paid shipping label for the old one. I dealt with a gentleman named Nick at Browning.

Friend also had a problem with his stock and he thought that he was screwed because it was a used purchase. Last week he called US Browning and was directed to Quebec. They ran his serial number and it was covered, new stock is in the mail.
 
Yes contact Nick at Browning Canada.I got a set of replacement stocks for my Maxus . all that was required was the serial # . they took about 8 days to arrive from Quebec .

You wouldn’t have his number on hand would you ?
I have a Maxus I bought brand new with the duratouch going sticky, only shotgun I ever bought without a wood stock sigh.
 
I actually re done one for a customer....never again LOL
took me all day of scratching and pealing to get all that gummy crap off.
I then sanded down the synthetic stock and sprayed it Cammo with my own system. worked well.
but ya....that new cammo is awful on those new guns. what a shame.
 
I called Browning Canada,

Asked for Nick as suggested, They have a new stock set for my Cynergy in the mail and Im sending in 2 bolts to have new stocks bedded onto them in Dec when they come in.

Very happy.
 
I’ve heard of a couple people who took the stocks off and sprayed them with a matte clear coat. They lost the duratouch feel, but their stocks didn't get sticky. In the end, the stocks had the same feel like all other camo dipped stocks. If Browning sends people new stock sets, I know which option I would go with. Once new stocks arrive, maybe try clear coating the sticky ones to see if they can be salvaged as spares.

Using rubbing alchol and a scotch brite pad I removed all the coating from my maxus . how ever it it is the black stalker version . so can't comment to how this would work for a camo dipped gun .
 
Interesting, I contacted browning US back in April and they directed me to the Browning Canada in Quebec to deal with the same issue on 2 SX3's that I have. They told me I had to ship both guns back to them, they would ship them to the states and strip them and refinish . . . maybe because they are Winchesters . . .
