Looking to buy a new hunting jacket and pants (prefer bibs style). Does anyone have any recommendations on what they prefer? Hoping to get some gortex.

I will be using it in the winter as well as during turkey hunts in spring/fall.

thanks

My 2 cents

I selected the Natural Gear stuff from Canadian Tire. Nice quiet material and pattern works well for me in mixed aspen/oak/grassland terrain. I went with the mid-weight bibs and jacket for fall muzzleloading season but it's available in different weights.

I know you mentioned GoreTex, but if you wanted to consider low tech vs high tech, Columbia makes a nice jacket and bibs in wool, I've had a set for a few years and they are my "go to" clothes for most of the hunting season.

I have a 3-in-1. In reality, here in Ontario. By the time spring comes around, you'll only really need a long sleeve t shirt and a maybe a green thin green jacket. When you remove the liner from the jacket, it becomes huge. For me I would buy and nice goretex insulated jacket AND a separate green camo t shirts and cotton jacket for the same money as a 3-in-1.

Cabelas bargin bin is where I usually get my stuff. You just have to keep going back every few weeks to check when stuff goes on sale. I got a new goretex wader length jacket for 130 last summer.

I got my "Remington" 6 in 1 from Walmart, it's pretty good except in a real downpour with high winds. I got my bibs from Cabelas, Cabelas brand they are awesome, but they will not be great in warm weather, I have a Remington uninsulated rain pant from Wallyworld as well, pretty comfy.

I have a pair of the insulated Natural Gear bibs from Canadian Tire. Made in Canada, but they are not waterproof...

I have a non-insulated Whitewater Whisper H2o suit, waterproof and quiet. I just layer a bit more for the late seasons...I'd like a nice wool set, but can never find any in stock...

Check out Sportchief. Canadian and they make some cool stuff. I have pants and a bowhunting jacket (zipper is off to one side so as not to catch on the string) and I love them. Waterproof, not Goretex, but same technology under a different name. Cheaper than goretex, but still more than the Wallymart or Crappy Tire stuff.

I like the stuff on the sale rack!!!!
As long as the pattern looks good, it feels comfortable, and you can usually get a good idea about quality just by handling it.

The best hunter, is a bargain hunter!
