Camo jacket and pants

I am looking for a new set of camo jacket and pants for hunting moose,elk, and bison. Not to “fussy” just want the BEST, for warm fall days, cold (-20) winter days and has to be breathable. I hear lots of names like Browning, gortex, artic shield RE-tain, scent-lok, and the list goes on and on.

Gortex was the original and now is the generic name when referring to breathable clothing. Do the other brands work the same and just as good. Is it that the patent has run out and everyone else has jumped on the bank wagon.

Can one system do it all? Do I start with a gortex shell then add layers underneath as the season gets colder? How about jacket with zip in liners? Same thing with pants? Do the bibs work better than just pants?

Obviously I am confused. Just too much info on the internet. It was just easier in the old days when you only had one or two choices. Now with hundreds of choices and fancy advertising I am not sure what to get. I would like to do this right the first time and am willing to spend the money to do it right.

What is everyone using and are you happy with it. Does it work as advertised?

Buy quality and buy once. Raven Wear and Arctic Shield have good reputations although I can not speak about their products from experience. I like Gore Tex, best water proof products available. I have a camo outfit from Sportchief and it is pretty good, although i will likely buy new in the next year or two.
 
I have a set of Columbia wool camo. It's not the nicest looking camo, but you can't beat wool for warmth and breathablity. Wool also doesn't accumulate scent like gore-tex does. I spent a few years timber cruising in the interior BC five days a week, 50 weeks a year, and I tried all kinds of outdoor wear(Gore-tex, Oilskin, Fleece, etc...) and for the cold, wet, and snowy weather, wool blew the other materials away.

The Columbia set is nice. The Jacket has a double back for warmth and the pants have double knees which is nice for field dressing game, or kneeling in wet grass etc... The pants also come in a bib style if you need more warmth, and there are two types of jackets, one with a hood and one w/o. I see lately they now make a winter camo also.

I tried the browning camo wool out a couple of years ago. The camo looks better, but it is not as heavy or tough as the columbia stuff. One nice thing about the browning pants is they come with a fleece type liner though.

Finally IMO there is not material that is quieter in the bush than wool. You can rub up against brush with it and it does not emit an unnatural sound like some of the gore-tex camo.
