Got some camo tape as a stocking stuffer. Not my thing but thought why not. Put some down the barrel and around the scope to blend in around the FDE stock, so it's not just black against brown. Not an end to end wrap, just spots here and there to break up the solid black and better blend in with the FDE stock.

But now I'm wondering if I need to worry about rust from humidity or if it gets caught in rain. Anyone use this stuff and if so what's your experience? I like that I can go back to stock paint just by unwrapping but if it's going to be trouble down the road then I might as well take it off...

TIA,

look mate I ran some down my stainless barrels here an there, also had mates who done the same and ended up with little rust spots.. but my tikka was fine an the tape was on for a long time.
if pedantic then you can change the tape over a bit.

I think its a good thing.

you can get a wrap which can be taken off an washed but is a little bulky sometimes. thin strip of tape works great.

cheers

mine sat wet all through a winter on a t3 and an abolt, no marks whatsoever.

I think the glue/contact stuff is the factor on weather its going to go orange or not

Thanks for the feedback. It was a gift stuck in a Christmas stocking, like hockey tape about 3/4 inch wide, but camo green and FDE. I'm not worried about the scope so much as it's more than the rife with a good paint job but the barrel is a MVP 5.56 which seems to scratch easy in the safe so I wanted to protect it. Just worried rust might be an issue. Sounds like it is a concern so I'll keep an eye on it and remove it if it gets wet.

Wrapped my Abolt nickel plated barrel with it about 12 years ago to cut down on the glare. Haven't taken if off since, no issues.

Camo in general is hype.

Camo material is one aspect. Camo comes from understanding why things are seen.

And for critter hunting, scent.

Secure a pair of old socks to your rife with the tape. Shape, shine, shadow, spacing, stench. To look extra professional, buy camo socks on eBay.
If you are stuck, use hessian for the Vasily Zaytsev look.

If someone thinks it helps....then it is worth it. Even camo clothing is over hyped....have had good luck just wearing a lumberjack jacket. This from someone who owns enough camo clothing for three at least. Camo is only helping one sense on the game animal, they still have foot long ears and great sense of smell. Nothing is a magic cure for loud walking, or smoking a cigarette.

Two ways to make money in a goldrush. Mine for gold, and mine the miners. Lots of stuff is unnecessary. Camo tape is cheap, go for it if it makes you feel happy.
