Adapting to different environments, maybe you want your rifle to have snow camo in the winter. Instead of buying a new gun or get yours coated it's cheaper to buy a couple rolls of camo tape.

I see what u guys are saying but what I don't understand is tapeing a gun and then wearing blaze orange. I've seen it allot where I hunt and some of my buddy's do it COHO haha.

it would give one something to do on a rainy day and a sence of accomplishment if it turned out relatively well. I haven't done one, yet. I don't really like the join line on the bottom side, that I've seen on some. I suppose on a badly nicked up stock, the camo tape might look much better. I do really like some of the ones that guys are doing with spray paint through leaves and twigs etc. I'm gonna give it a try one of these days. I just hafta pick the right candidate.

I use cheesecloth drabs in snow and green/brown/grey burlap in spring and summer that match my ghillie suit. Saves painting or taping and I can change quickly

Most of that camo tape is easy to put on and take off. It does not stick to the gun but sticks to itself as you wrap it around. So say if it got wet, remove and hang to dry then re-apply when gun is cleaned and dry, or change to different colour camo etc. Cheers Roscoe

I had a gun built with a nice new shiney stainless barrel that I use at the range and for hunting coyote..going to get it painted this winter but for the time being I have it wrapped in tape...when it is sunny out the stainless sticks out like a sore ####! The rest of me blends in so I figured my gun should.:)

I have used McNett removable camo tape on my binoculars and scopes and on one stainless muzzleloader barrel but never on the stocks or blued barrels. It prevents metal reflection and provides a great grip to the binos and partial sunshade for the scope. It is removable and washable but on barrels would hold moisture and require fast drying or removal to prevent marring blued metals. I have also used white-off white tensor bandage to wrap exposed parts of a rifle in winter but never really expected that it really hid much when I am there breathing steam and shaking to stay warm. I guess it can't hurt anything but the hunter's firearm so if someone wants to wrap away......who cares?

I guess it is to change to different environments on an as need bases, and still leave you with your as -bought rifle's finish while in your cabinet or at the range.

I Winter Warfare my M70 for Coyote in the Winter, but wouldn't want to look at a white gun all year, would be real bad using it during Deer season during the fall. If the rifle is protected properly before applying the tape of your choice, it's easily removed after the special need is over, with no ill affects to your finish.

In future I may buy a factory camo'd gun in say Mossy Oak instead of classic blue/walnut, for general use on deer and no-snow wintertime coyote, and can still Winter Warfare it for Dec-Mar snow periods.
