p.s. expecting my Mossberg Maverick 88 sometime this week in a woodland camo type paint job ... should be sweet ... ;)

I don't know how to link to it, but the thread referred to above is "camo tape for goose" or something like that. Its still on the first page just scroll down a bit. His reasoning is that if your in a blind, there is no need for a camo'd gun. I guess for those of us that don't hunt from a blind, there could be an advantage. My 12ga isn't camo'd but I do my best to conceal it from approaching birds.

kevin.303 I likey your shotty partner ... very cool ... ;) Well I did start this thread hoping folks would post pics of their 12 guages that are camo'ed in whatever type of camo such as woodland, cadpat, OD green, winter white, desert, etc ... but maybe somebody will start posting soon. Here's some shotguns I found on a site stateside ... and really likey the colors they made them ... :D

:confused: This site needs a S.O.F. wanabe shotgunner section!:redface: We are not talking about the same type of camo!

PS: The Auto 5 could use most of the camo on the barrel where it sticks up like a sore thumb out of a blind when the sun comes up!: That blued barrel should stand out like a lighthouse!

Meanwhile, we wacked 33 birds yesterday, sans camo!

I just bought a Stoeger P350 in the Advantage cammo, it looks kinda cool, put a cammo sling on it, now for duck season....

Will have to be careful where I sit her down though...esp. if hunting in a corn field....
 
PICS people? hnchaj, nice pic and awesome on the amount of loosey goosey's you folks got ... as they're such good eating. As for blinds, barrels, etc ... I've kneeled down on the arctic tundra in the wide open and called geese in and shot a bunch ... no need for camo on my 12 guage, no need for a blind either ... all depends on what you want/how you hunt/experience I guess ... and well I just like camo'ed shotty's ... it's all good partner ... ;)

S.O.F. .....I think he means "soldier of fortune" .......

I wonder if birds respond to the same stimulus as people do when trying to see things eg shape, colour/contrast, movement...(the old "why things are seen" .. military lecture No. 1)???

I think part of this is that you know how to hunt. :D

I'm beginning to thing all this Camo stuff is for the folks that can't stay still and patient for more then 5 min. :p
 
:p You got it right! Stay still, don't wear bright colours! Then, move/mount/and/shoot! Any sudden mouvement will spook any bird. All my camo gear has leaks this year. I bought a Le Chameau utility green hunting outfit. It is waterprof and very comfortable with many utility pockets. It has not scared any birds! It is one of my best goose years! I have most of the meat made into meat pies, some into merguez sausage, a few smoked breast and the rest for Bourguignon.
BTW, Scotch retreived 31 pheasants Friday!

I just received back my MOSSBERG Maverick 88 from Barret Arms.(armacoat.net) ... "murdoc" on CGN board ... here she is and holy faark it's like a new shotgun ... I'm very very impressed and thankful ... woodland-type camo paint job ... these pics do NOT do it justice ...
