How would I get the finish off of a barrel and the action piece so that the camo paint would hold. I don't want to buy a new gun just for the camo, if this thread should be in the wrong place please delete.
What kind of under coating and paint should I use
Thank you.........

i camo'ed one of my guns not long ago heres what i did ... To remove the finish i bought a wire brush to fit a grinder, removed all bluing, then sprayed all bare metal with a car primer, then used krylon for the camo and a clear-coat paint to protect it. I have used the gun quite a few times in the last few months and its holding up perfect

I just acetone the whole gun and hit it with the camo krylon, looks better as it gets scuffed up, the plus side to this is if you get tired of the pattern you just acetone it all off and you have your original blued, undamaged gun, then repaint and away you go again.

Nothing I have, including baked on paint by a custom shop last forever and doesn't get dinged up, unless you leave it in the safe.
