I was just wondering as a new entry hunter how much of a roll having good forest and snow camo can help when hunting coyotes and rabbits.

Would you recommend full white camo on myself and rifle when hunting coyotes as they are somewhat cautious.

Thanks

i dont were much camo when hunting at all. i just were what is comfortable and in natural colours. i were whites when i hunt coyotes in the snow though. beats standing out like a sore thumb

White or snow camo definatley helps for hunting coyotes. But movement is the big thing. If you move, do it slowly, even turning your head. They pick up on movement very quick, no matter how good you are camo'd up

I used snow camo for hunting rabbits. I dont think it helps as your making lots of noise to flush them to begin with.

Ha second the tyvek. If u want jack rabbits full whites you can walk right up and pop em with a 22 cottontails it don't matter my dogs run em. Coyote hunting in winter I snowcamo up and when there isn't snow I wear a ghille suit

Pardon my ignorance, I do not hunt myself, but I thought it was required to wear bright orange when hunting (well in Quebec anyway). So camo or not it`s irrelevant since you wear orange over it. Or did I miss something?

Heres Ontario. Watefowlers would never shoot a thing if they had to wear orange. Same with bow hunters

The objective of the hunter orange regulation is to maximize
hunter safety without negatively impacting hunting success.
Under this regulation, all licensed hunters, including
bow hunters and falconers, hunting during the gun season
for deer and moose, are required to wear hunter orange.

This requirement does not apply to persons who are hunting
migratory game birds, except woodcock.
In addition, all licensed black bear hunters hunting during
the open season for black bear are required to wear hunter
orange except when in a tree stand.
Where there is a gun season for moose or deer concurrent
with an open black bear season, then the only persons
exempted from wearing hunter orange are waterfowl hunters,
as indicated above.
A hunter orange garment and head cover must be worn. The
hunter orange garment must cover a minimum of 2,580
square cm (400 square inches) above the waist and be visible
from all sides. Open mesh or camouflage hunter orange must
not be part of the 2,580 square cm. A hunting coat or vest
generally meets this requirement. The hunter orange head
cover may have: open mesh; a peak or brim colour other than
hunter orange, and a crest or logo which does not completely
cover the hunter orange on the side where it is affixed. The
head cover must not contain camouflage material.

Well - You're a new hunter living in southern Ontario. Rabbits are a lot easier to hunt than coyotes - a much simpler regimen can be applied. You dont need camo for rabbits as you are trying to flush them. Camo is typically needed for coyotes.
Depending upon where you live, you may be hunting on public land that other hunters may be using. Although hunter orange is only mandatory during the rifle season for deer and moose, wearing something orange while hunting on public land may contribute to longevity.

For coyotes camo is a definate plus. For rabbits not so much. Wear what ever is comfortable for rabbits..maybe a bit of orange just to be safe..but that part is up to you.

Go to one of the army surplus store and look around. On the web you can find some real cheap ones .

I wear camo for rabbit hunting to make a fashion statement.:D

When calling predators I use white camo in the snow and a ghillie for everything else.
