Sporting Rifle Shoot

We lucked out today. Excellent weather. Not hot, not windy and no rain.
A number of CGNrs and some ORA members brought out an interesting collection of rifles to shoot. Some shot more than one rifle.

I saw a Remington Rolling block in 43 Spanish. A real old 98Mauser that had been through both wars, A cherry Springfield Garand, a tricked out AR15, A Norinco 223 Bushranger (bolt action) a Norinco M4 and a Norinco M14S. There were 3 relays shooting and I only got to see the rifles on one relay.

The course of fire was 10 shots aimed fire, then 10 shots at 10 3-seconfd exposures and then 10 shots at walking targets. The is done at 100, 200 and 300 - all on the Fig. 11 target. At 100 we shot standing.

The guy in the butts had a set of score cards and recorded the total scores for his shooter. This was fast and efficient.

We do this again on July 24. Sure hope you can make it. The more the merrier.

That was a really fun day at the range. Not super tense competition wise but a lot of fun shooting. These events are great ways for guys to try out something new or new to them, just to see how they work at moderate distance.

I had a last minute change in plans with my rifle, since I just had some work done on an AR that was giving me troubles. It ran like a top all day so now I have confidence it will perform on demand just like it should.

I already have plans for something interesting and different to use at the July match Bwhahahahahaha!

Ganderite, you are a magician with a camera... I think this is the first photo of me ever where I don't look like a doofus with a gun. :p

I had a great day and shot some great groups. Lots of nice people and friendly competition as usual. I did miss the rapid fire section, but I loved the weather today.

Hope to see you all at the next event. :)
