We were blessed with the biggest turnout, ever.

We were also blessed with the coolest day of the week, but it was still fairly hot. We had a cooler full of bottled water on the firing line and in the butts. They came home empty..

I think the current program is just about perfect. That small plying-card sized bull on the deliberate target is a real challenge. Even at 100, no one cleaned it, although there were a pair of 49/50 and a pair of 48/50.

And, no one got a bust at 300, even on the mover. In fact, on the 300 mover there was only one single digit score, and I think he was having rifle problems.

Eight different people went home with a prize - a bottle of wine. Hopefully their wives will encourage them to come back for more. It was good to see some younger shooters at the range. There were three father-son combinations. And I noted that the youngest managed to out-shoot the old man sometimes.

This is not a competition to see who shoots the best score. If it was, most of us would bring a different rifle. It is a chance to bring what ever rifles we want to play with for the day. I shot a pair of rifles that have never been fired outside of my back yard. One was one of those Irish #4’s. It shot very well, but my old eyes have problems with iron sights.

I will see if we can book another range date. Mid-September to mid-October would be nice.

Maybe next time we can all bring a friend.

Can you identify these rifles?

Wow looks like a lot of fun. Please book another date or
two. I couldn't attend this one or the last and am dying to participate.

Okay, I`ll take a whang at it just for giggles:
SVT-40 Tokarev, late production
Moisin-Nagant 91/30
ditto
I have no idea; NOT a Cooey 39 for sure!
SKS (Russian)
Rifle Number 4
commercial AR-15 built up like the M-16A1
picture has a curse on it, won`t load. Rifle is T/C or H&R. Either way, it`s "broken"!
Rifle Number 4 in 7.62 NATO
Remington 700
really good question
a gopher gun with a stainless barrel and a genuine M1913 Picatinny Rail!!!
started off as an SKS. If he wants accuracy, he should have the STOCK on the rest.
Rifle Number 4
Rifle Number 4
a genuine 1896-type Swedish 6.5x55 Mauser
Enfield Enforcer? .308 Number 4 type, anyway
SKS
and the 2 bigmouthed paper guys with the red things splattered all over them have things that look like a mad cartoonist`s idea of a combination CETME and AK.

How do I score?

Keeping my head down for a while now!

Photo 8 is a No5 Enfield. Photo 10 is an Australian International Arms M10 (Enfield No4 copy). You can tell by the colour of the stock and the mag. Notice it's flat. The rail on the breach also gives it away as an AIA. I know because I own one. I also have a No5.

Looks like a lot of guys had a wonderful time wasting an afternoon.

Great photos, too.

Thanks for this one, Ganderite..... and all the models, too!

Well I recognize the DCRA No4 in 7.62 and the Colt AR-15 Sporter as I am the owner! Thanks again Ganderite for a GREAT day. Anyone who has not made it out to one of these shoots really owes it to him/her self. I have some more pictures I will upload later today. As a side note their were some outstanding marksmen present yesterday.

This proved to be very, very useful. With 1/2 MOA sights the first shot was always on paper, usually in the neck area.

Hey Arty, how did your 91.30 PU do ? I see you also made your DCRA No 4 into a Swede :D.

Looks like you guys had a lot of fun, wish I could have brought a German presence there.

I didnt end up actually firing my PU, brought it as more of a backup. I am happy to say that No4 is exceptionally accurate. It really beats the shoulder though. I can fire Mosin carbines and slugs all day but for some reason that rifle bruised me!

When I went to the ORA day a month earlier, I thought I my shoulder would be just fine but after shooting prone with three rifles over the course of the day, my body was sore all over during the drive home.

I did have a bruising from one of my Gewehr 98s and my shoulder was a mix of blue and purple for two weeks after that.

In the end, it was all worth it :D.

I was surprised to see the #5 there. Not the gun I would choose for a shooting competition.

BUT - the purpose of this shoot is to shoot our rifles and have fun. Most of us have rifles we have either not shot or have not shot at 100, 200 and 300. The #5 shot very impressive scores at 100 yards, placing in the top 25%.

I never did shoot my EAL and it ocurrs to me I also have a mint M44 I have never shot. I have gotten over trying to beat everyone and am now having fun shooting some of my more eclectic rifles.

Send me your name and email address if you want to be on the email distribution list. Anyone wanting a higher def copy of a picture can ask, too.
