Camp cooking, spam

Perhaps it's just my family and friends, but whenever we go out on any sort of outdoor activity like fishing, hunting and camping, Spam comes with us. It's the only time we eat the dreaded canned meat, but eat it we do. It's a tradition, and one I'm curious if others here have. Which leads me to ask, does anyone here have any camp spam recipes? Because ours are always simple. Usually just cooked on a frying pan with whatever we decide to throw in.

I hate to admit it but Spam was a regular part of the grocery list at our camp as were the hotdogs, bologna, bacon, ham and sausage. Then we had the upper class steak and pork chop meal plans but those were Saturday night, Sunday noon specialties. Spam fried in pepper and a bit of oil in a cast iron frypan accompanied by crispy fried potato slices with onion and mushrooms, toss in a can of corn and give er' Takes minimal preptime and culinary skillz an regardless of the nutritional value sure hits the spot. MMMMmmmm Spam and a cold Bud!

Not Spam, but but close, we so take canned corned beef on our fishing trip, makes some good corned beef hash for breakfast one morning.

Spam Recipe.

1. Open can.
2. Dump contents in dog's dish.
3. When dog gives you dirty look, remove spam from dish.
4. Use for coyote bait. Works best if winter has been really hard on coyotes.

It isn't much to find out. It's not as bad as one would expect, but by no means a delicious and tasty treat. It's pork in a can. Tastes like, pork. From a can.

The hunting camp fare is some of the best of the year for us - lobsters, 2" thick rib steaks, spare ribs, etc. We spoil ourselves.

The only time I've had Spam was by accident in Hawaii. They love the stuff and make sushi with it instead of fish. FAAAAHH! WTF?! Fresh ahi caught daily and you stick canned meat in your sushi?

somebody has MONEY- have you priced the canned corned beef LATELY- compare oz to dollars- i get the walmart holiday stuff which isn't the same as the real spam by hornel( which is what we got when i was serving) but i camp on the cheap- and stews by puritan
i should see if i can't find that video where a OPENED can of spam is left on the picnic table, a BEAR comes up, sniffs it, and wanders off

Take a can of Klik and mix it together with relish, grated cheese and chopped onions. Spread it on an open face bun and broil until the cheese melts. Absolutely awesome snack!

spam

Spam & eggs for breakfast, in a sandwich for lunch, spam with a little brown sugar on it and beans for supper. Pretty versatile camp food. I always prefered Spork over spam, but I don't think they make it anymore.
Another standby used to be Tulip brand canned bacon. Really good, sweet bacon, but I don't think it's imported from Holland anymore. Safeway used to carry it.
Sorta like those canned stews. Wouldn't want it everyday, but it's versatile, quick, and it keeps.

Don't you guys ever cook REAL food? After dark there is lots of time to cook. Why try and make everything instant from a can?

Beans. That's canned camp food. That's it.

When we were teenagers, we used to do the same thing with dog food and serve it up at parties. You couldn't tell the difference between that and the pig shi.... er... I mean Klik

More time for poker :p

Seriously though, I can't remember the last time we had spam. Maybe years ago, when just two of us hunted from a tent.
Now, we have prepared meals.
