Camp guns

Hi there. I’m looking for suggestions on a camp gun while off grid camping. I have had a close encounter with a black bear sow with cubs. I rather have a choice of responses other than just bear spray. I’m thing a shotgun is best choice. What considerations should I be thinking of. Capacity, barrel length, type etc. Thank you

Pen flare is pretty loud. Effective also
Ammo is expensive....
