Camp rifle ideas

As a camp gun, I'd probably use my Brazillian (FN-made) 98 Mauser carbine (18.5 inch barrel) in 7x57. I've added a Lyman aperture sight to the receiver, and I load it with Hornady 175-grain RNs that go 2,400 over the chronograph. I call it my version of the .30-30, because it's about as compact as a 94 Winchester, but in my opinion it is much cooler and hits harder.
