CamPro bullets and magnum loads?

Aren't you concerned about lead smearing the barrel at those speeds with the Buffalo bullets?I'm not that familiar with the lead Buffalo bullets,I've heard of them, but not for high FPS.I always figured that after around 1000 fps. a jacketed/coated bullet is recommended.

They're a hard cast bullet and no lead fouling noticed, but I certainly haven't shot hundreds of them! One cylinder load to finish off a range visit and you've had enough LOL

The Hornady XTP 158gr jacketed are going 1600-1750 fps according to the Hodgdon load center (I unfortunately don't have a chrono yet to validate that) and they left copper in the barrel. After 700+ rounds, you could see it with the naked eye by letting the sun shine in the muzzle. I used some G96 bore solvent this Xmas to clean it all up (and that seemed to work better that Hoppe's No 9 bore cleaner and copper solvent used together).

I have 800 Hornady XTP 110gr bullets from their "get loaded" promotion, they're supposed to go up to 2400fps. I expect I'll be cleaning copper again later... ;)

I fully expect the 158gr lead bullets to reach similar speeds as the jacketed bullets (~1700 fps) but they're Brinell hardness number 25 according to Bullet Barn, so I'm not overly worried about leading. I expect a certain amount, for sure.

:d

I've found moderately acceptable accuracy with 240 cam pros and 22 grains of h110 @1300 fps and by that I mean minute of pig at 100m after that the groups really opened up at 25 yards out of my 7 1/2 inch revolvers. When I want accuracy I hot rod Sierra 210s or 220s between 1600-1750fps with vn-105 but if you want 240s I suggest bullet barn hard cast swc, they are about the same price as cam pros and I find way more accurate at the same velocities.
