CamPro Order Just Arrived!

I made up a 9mm hot load using Campro 124gr HP on top of 7.2gr Longshot. I get 1330fps in my handgun and 1490fps in my 7.5" barreled AR. Don't have a longer 9mm rifle to test with. May be a good excuse to pick up on of them 9mm Chiappa's :)

cool! thanks.

I have read about hot loads approaching 1900fps in 18" tubes. Cor-Bon +p+ kinda thing. and they were only around 1400 or so in pistols.

I want to try slower powder and see how things go. Longer pipe may allow the slower burn to work over a longer period of time.

Phil,

Can you get projectiles for the 7.62x39 round? Just wondering if reloading this round is an affordable alternative to corrosive surplus? I hear new manufacture non-corrosive is on its way in volume again come summer but I'm down to my last 5000 rounds of the last bulk buy and have a new AR-15 in x39 en route to me ;D

CamPro is currently only offering two rifle projectiles:

223 55 FMJ
308 147 FMJ

LOL, I guess you missed the sarcasm/LOL :)

I was playing around.

We can't use hp ammo for its intended use, at least not in pistols. They do punch cleaner holes in paper, at least if its backed up by a board or cardboard. I don't use them, but some guys I shoot with do.

We CAN use them to hunt small game and varmints with hollow point ammo, and there are a few non restricted carbines that shoot 9mm. I am working up a higher speed load for 9mm. Attempting to get close to 2000fps while not over pressure. I am trying slower powder, such as HS-6.

Yup, hard to tell what you meant...that's what the smilies and/or "LOL's" are for (your original post had neither).

I do take my 9mm JR out in the bush, and have a load using 124gr XTP's (as well as factory Gold Dots and Golden Sabre) should the opportunity present itself, but am always open to options.
I doubt these were intended as a hunting round, but when I get some I will try expansion testing through water jugs to see how they do.

For the pistol, I was just curious if guys find they perform any better..that's all.

In theory the hollow point should be more accurate because of the better ballistic coefficient - being hollow, it has to be longer to have the same weight. Practically though in a pistol we're only shooting 20 yards so who cares. In a carbine like a JR though it might be neat to try and see if they group better. If you try it let us know the results.
