can a 2-5/8" shotshell be safely fired in a 2-3/4"/3" shotgun?

I found a great deal on some 12ga 00 buckshot, it is labeled 2-5/8" which I have never heard of. It looks an identical length beside a 2-3/4" shell, I am wondering if anyone can say for sure if they would be safe to use? Thanks.

Shorter is fine, but you may have feeding problems. The Canam DA slugs are i believe 2 5/8ths and they work perfectly in my pump.

2 and 6/8 is the same as 2 and 3/4, so 5/8 is no problem to shoot

2 5/8" , 2 3/4", 3" and 3 1/2" refers to the length after the shell has been fired .an unfired 2 3/4" shell will measure somewhere close to 2 1/4"

It's the Sellier & Bellot buckshot that is 2 & 5/8....
