Sorry to jack this thread, but I was also curious if the NP22 could use the Sig X-Change kit to fire .22?
I'm somewhat new here, so sorry if this has been beaten to death
YOU ARE NOT SORRY!
Lol...however, I have looked into this and been told that the Sig kits for the .22 conversion WILL NOT work in a Norinco - but this is just hearsay on my part - I have asked at a few gun counters, but this doesn't make it true.

Nope.
Locking block on the NP22 is bevelled (old 226 style, I read somewhere) whereas the Sig .22 barrel is flat-bottomed and will not fit. I really love the feel of my P226 Classic 22 and bought a NP22 to see if I could fit the 9mm top from the Norc onto the Sig.
It would have been a sweet victory if it worked seeing as the NP22 is a complete pistol with 2 mags for less than the cost of the Sig X-Change kit with 1 mag.

The NP-22 (even the new ones) seem to be based on an old 226 design - which would make sense, as it seems unlikely Norinco would spend alot of time updating designs that sell well. The hammer spring underneath the grip panels is like an old Sig - if I attempt an E2 grip conversion, I am also going to need a new spring. This also explains the problem fitting the .22 kits.
do you mean a new "trigger bar spring" under the grip panels? if you find a source, I am interested. this new spring is supposed to be a good improvement on trigger pull
