I am also looking to improve the trigger on my NP22. Can the Sig SRT kit be installed, or are there better options?

Yes it can...I have the SRT kit in my NP22. It doesn't really improve the trigger feel...only the amount of time for resetting to next shot (much more noticeable reset feel).

Brordo - thanks for the quick response. Would you say it was worth the money, or am I better off going to a gunsmith for a trigger job? I am really looking to improve the single action weight, although the shorter reset sounds like a nice feature. Was it worth the money?

a gun smith trigger job would be great for the NP-22, alternatively get a 17lb wolff mainspring (about 5 bucks) and install yourself. reduced the double action pull significantly and improved the single action slightly

Get the trigger job...you'll be happier in the long run. Changing the mainspring will help with the double action also. I am curious to know if the different trigger available for the P226 (I forget what they call it) would help with the takeup on the NP22? I might try that next.

Sorry to jack this thread, but I was also curious if the NP22 could use the Sig X-Change kit to fire .22?

I'm somewhat new here, so sorry if this has been beaten to death

YOU ARE NOT SORRY!

Lol...however, I have looked into this and been told that the Sig kits for the .22 conversion WILL NOT work in a Norinco - but this is just hearsay on my part - I have asked at a few gun counters, but this doesn't make it true.

Thanks bud. And yeah, I really was sorry. Even teared up a bit. ;)

Nope.

Locking block on the NP22 is bevelled (old 226 style, I read somewhere) whereas the Sig .22 barrel is flat-bottomed and will not fit. I really love the feel of my P226 Classic 22 and bought a NP22 to see if I could fit the 9mm top from the Norc onto the Sig.

It would have been a sweet victory if it worked seeing as the NP22 is a complete pistol with 2 mags for less than the cost of the Sig X-Change kit with 1 mag.

The NP-22 (even the new ones) seem to be based on an old 226 design - which would make sense, as it seems unlikely Norinco would spend alot of time updating designs that sell well. The hammer spring underneath the grip panels is like an old Sig - if I attempt an E2 grip conversion, I am also going to need a new spring. This also explains the problem fitting the .22 kits.

do you mean a new "trigger bar spring" under the grip panels? if you find a source, I am interested. this new spring is supposed to be a good improvement on trigger pull

a sig has many springs, 2 are located under the grips...... the "trigger bar spring" and the "main (aka hammer) spring"

I think doing the E2 conversion you will need a new type trigger bar spring and the new type mainspring

check out the parts diagram here: w ww.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=0/sid=832/schematicsdetail/P226

A new trigger bar spring improving trigger pull? No. The reason for the new trigger bar spring was because they last much longer than the old "non-curly" ones. How it would improve trigger pull is beyond me, and it's arguable whether the new style mainspring is an improvement over the old. (Although it IS much safer to work on, as the dent in my wall attests to....)

And yes, you will need the shorter mainspring and seat for an E2 grip.

Not to be a total prick and hijack this thread, but can one assume that these mods could be done to the DAC394 (Dlask Arms Corp version of the Sig P228)?

Looking at putting on the E2 grip and installing the SRT trigger.
