I was talking with some of my gun buddies and we were talking about the Smith model 610 and was wondering if, like our glock 20's, they could be converted to shoot 9X25 Dillon and 357 Sig?

Would a Barrel change be all that would be required, like the standard model 610 that shoots both 10mm and 40 S/W?

Could one then just buy another 610 and have it permanently converted to shoot 9X25 Dillon and 357Sig?

Is there anyone out there that already done this? Is there anyone out there that can do this? Any barrel makers making conversions for the 610?

Anyone have the answers I seek????

sure you could as long as the cartridge OAL will fit in the cylinder and of course if you rebarrel the pistol.... realize though that to convert the pistol and such your probably looking at $1000 for a new barrel and install since your not going to find a "factory" barrel in either of those calibers.

You would likely need more than a barrel as the .357 SIG is a bottlenecked case and firing it in the straight-walled cylinder the revolver is fitted with would destroy your cases and probably your accuracy

New barrel and cylinder that won't shoot both 9X25 Dillon and 357Sig. The Sig(longer than the .40 S&W it's based on) would fire form to the Dillon's(necked down 10mm) dimensions.
In any case, like Tim says, you'd be looking at a cu$tom barrel and cu$tom cylinder. A grand would most likely be light though.

I don't see the point; just get a .357 Magnum instead. Wheelguns using rimmed cartridges can be modified to use moon clips.

10mm Auto is pretty much a .357Mag and vise versa.

357Sig was designed to emulate a light .357Mag load... so... you aren't really gaining anything by trying to do a conversion on your revolver; as mentioned it'd be crazy $$$ as well.

Now, if you really wanna do something cool!

Lengthen your 610 chambers to accept "10mm Magnum" Then you'd have something cool and for not much extra money.
Brass is available from Starline. Everything else is the same :)

Except the .357 isn't chambered in many semi's and doesn't handle 200 grain bullets so well. Even 180 is a tossup;)

Yes!

Hell yes! I have wanted to try the 10mm mag for some time now. If you want to screw with your 610 that is the only sensible change.
