Hi
I have an old friend in Seattle that wants to give me a Handgun. It is nothing special just a Ruger BlackHawk with a 6 inch barrel { restricted gun in Canada} Is there an easy way to do this or does it have to through a dealer that will broker it? Can I do this myself somehow? Any and info on this will be much appreciated.

Thanks Graydog

Contact Prophet River. They have an import service. The barrier for individuals to do it themselves is the US side, since they're really anal about exporting.

I would also say prophet river, they are doing a barrel for me right now, and they offer the best prices on the service although you are still looking at $200 + tax + shipping.

I'm now waiting for three pistols coming from the US. Been about six months, so far. I've been told that the US paperwork is now done, and that Clay (Smiley at Prophet River) is planning to go down to get them at the border sometime this month. I hold US citizenship as well as Canadian, and was able to bring in one (and only one) gun from the US on my own. If I want to bring others, I was told by a person at the US State Department, I'd need to buy a permit. Expensive. Less expensive to pay Leroy's Big Valley Gun Works in Glasgow, Montana, to handle them on the US side, and pay Prophet River to bring them into the country. Just takes quite a bit of time. All nice folks, though.

I have been waiting over six months for my Freedom Arms, and three months for my Model 41,but I do know that Clay is on the road South today.Hopefully I will have both guns very soon now.
