Can any scope be used with a Weaver rail?

Hi, another n00b question. I have a weaver rail on a rifle. Can I use any scope as long as I have the right mounts? Does the fact that I have the weaver rail make any difference at all to what scope I get?

The rail is fine. The rings you use will have to be appropriate for the scope you choose. Height, eye relief, ring spacing, etc.
