I have a neighbour across the street in his 70's who is retiring from guns. He wants to sell off a few of his collection. I am encouraging him to make a CGN account as we both are concerned that consignment will not bring full value. I told him I would help the best I could to find a value as long as he gave me the pictures and descriptions, and will help him get set up on Gun Nutz.

Anyway, he sent me some pictures so I am curious if you guys could help me come up with a fair value to sell these at?
I know the rules for selling for a friend, I'm not going to be doing that, I'm going to have him make an account, just looking for a value first.

First one is a 29-2 S&W .44 mag with the mahogany box and the manual, bought new (I think in the 70s) in Vancouver (Burrard St he said).

I believe the grips have a chip on one side near the trigger guard and the box is missing one of the clasps

Second one S&W model 41, 7 3/4 barrel .22 LR with "false muzzle" muzzle break, factory grips, target grips and original cardboard box

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's really difficult to evaluate things for Canada since all the prices seem to be in the US.

I would say for the model 29 that on the low side $750.00 and on the high side $950.00 but these days who knows for sure.

The 41 might be a bit of a hard sale as people do not seem to really want the long barrel version of this gun but I would say from $750.00 to $850.00. I think if it was the 5.5 inch model it would go higher and sell much quicker.

Just my thoughts on this.

I looked at a pretty rough (in comparison) 29-2 around christmas time, and asked what it was worth on here, general consensus was $700 - $850 for one that was a bit rough but shootable.

GrayDog pretty much nailed it on the head for pricing, though there are still a few guys looking for the braked models .
The Smith 29-2 is the last of the pinned and ressesed guns in the N frame line up.
I collect Smith revolvers , if you need a hand at selling , give me a shout!

PM me for any help

To the right collector they could go for a thousand each. The box's add nice value to each gun.

Fast sale $ 850 each and I doubt they'd gather much dust.
