Can anybody identify this single shot cooey?

I had this old cooey in storage with relatives for ages and finally dug it up at a family get-together. Can anybody identify it? I'm having trouble finding any single shots with checkering on the stock.

Also how hard will it be to find a replacement firing pin?

What does the stamp on the barrel say? Looks like a model 39 from after winchester took over. The checkering might have been added later. That stock has been stripped/refinished, and if it was checkered from the factory I think the wood underneath the checkering would be quite a bit darker. I sanded down the checkering a bit as a dumb kid many many years ago, which is why it might appear light.

The checking itself is identical to what i've seen in some pictures of cooey model 600's


I'll post the barrel stamp info when im back at home.

It is possible that it is a winchester model 39 but it looks like a winchester made model 750 which came out around 1967 replacing the old Cooey model 75. The stock could be had plain or with checkering such as you have or with an embossed squirrel in the pistol grip. As already mentioned, the model should be stamped on the barrel unless it was sanded off at some point.
