there is a scope comparison article in a swedish magazine. I'm told they compare light transmission levels, and I'd be very interested in finding out the levels of the various scopes listed

http://www.zeiss.se/4125680F002BA25A/EmbedTitelIntern/Vapentidningen/$File/Vapentidningen.pdf

Betcha "Ljustransmission" means light transmission... and the three Zeiss score 9's (like several others) out of ten ... the 3 Zeiss products also rank 1st 2nd 3rd overall scores fwiw...Zeiss has always promoted the need to balance resolution with maximum contrast ...as does Leitz

(BTW ... Zeiss also ran some pricey full color ads in that mag....wonder if that had any impact on the judging?? ....naaahh!! Doesn't matter ... I like Zeiss anyway)

If you look at the top of last page where they show points given for the different scopes.from left to right it translates something like this
field of view
eyerelief
tube vision(how noticible is tube at diffrent settings)
ergonomics(how easy is it to adjust)
adjustments(crosshair dials)
change in point of impact(does it change at different settings)
sharpness
color/contrast
with sun facing you(how it affects looking thru scope)
light transmission
performance at dusk

If you look on page 9 (red square on bottom corner)theres a table with percentage and points.thats how they gave points for light transmission.
Article says light transmisson was tested in a lab.
hope this will help
