Can anyone date my M305?

Actually..... a picture would likely help....

Any idea what manufacturer it is? Norinco, Polytech, Bell Lifestyles....

John

I will hazard a guess, it's a Marstar import, pre-2012.....

I have absolutely no idea who the manufacturer is. Pretty sure it is a Norinco. I bought it as a Norinco, but I don't have the box anymore.

Here are some images:

There are zero markings, other than what is in the pictures.

If you send a PM to CGN member " Different " he has compiled a very extensive list and can tell you .
There are some numbers on the side of your receiver he will require (not your serial number)

I have an M305 that only has the following on the side of the receiver:

M305
Cal 7.62mm
P14****

Only other markings are random numbers stamped on the left side underneath the stock.

Picked one up from SFRC at the beginning of the month with same markings. Only serial number on the box, no other info.

If you find out post it here as I am wondering too.

Rifle was indexed good and sights are centred, op rod guide tight and it has an nice ping to it.

I noticed mine has that nice ring to it, too.

Trying to sell/trade it, but the first thing people want to know is when was it made!

Will definitely post an update if I find anything out.

I think the synthetic stocked ones showed up after 2007.

My 2007 came with a Chu wood stock. Synthetic wasn't an option.

Hate to burst any bubbles but why would anyone want to know when it was built as there is no collector value!

Earlier models were better quality , 2009 ish were decent built rifles . some after 2012 looked like they were thrown together from the reject parts bins

As I understand things, 2007s are considered the gold standard.

The very earlier ones had some quality issues. Later ones had some quality issues.

They seemed to surface in 2 year cycles?
Does it really take a boat from China 2 years to arrive in NA? Maybe we need to introduce them to oars:rolleyes:

I'm sure some one will flame/correct me if I'm mistaken.

Checked some out from the most recent batch that just came in. Look great compared to a couple years ago. Rear sights still suck, but the rest looks good.

80's to 90's were hit and miss, they were either amazing or terrible, very little in between from what I've read (and my '94 is one of those amazing ones). After the AWB in the US, production slowed down and it wasn't until later ('05 or so?) that Canadian dealers started doing big orders and we see them now.

Any markings on the receiver heel? The M305 designation indicates is a Norinco. The Polytech version was called M14S I believe. Maybe somebody can figure the year of manufacture from the serial number?

My 2007 is stamped M-14S, 308, NORINCO.

The lotto numbers below the stock line actually tell the date of manufacture of the receiver. If you search the m14forum there are a couple threads on the subject.

Been meaning to look up mine, bought in the early 90's used, from what I read, some years had soft bolts that could have problems with a lot of use.
Got the parts kit for it from Wolverine, to whom I may as well just send my paycheck directly, or so it seems.
