Can anyone identify this Beretta 20GA SxS. It had an engraving of a duck on the bottom - and that is all I have. Any idea what the suggested value for such a firearm? It has fixed chokes M & IC - it was made in 1969

Thanks,

410001661, are you sure about the manufacture date? The gun looks like, has the gauge of, and has the barrel steel of a model 409PB, which was last offered in the 1964 catalogue.

A very nice Beretta, much nicer than the new ones, a gun to drool over. Does it have double triggers?

There should be a date code on the reciever indicating the year of manufacture. If you go here and click on the subheading "6. Date of Manufacture" it will lead you to the full list of codes.

As for value, if it is a 409PB as a reference point there is a 12 gauge 409PB on the rack at Shooter's Choice in good condition at a price of $795. Your's is in 20 gauge, a more desirable gauge IMHO and looks in excellent condition. If it's a 409PB I'd think a price of $1,000-$1,200 would be reasonable.

Does the gun have ejectors or extractors? If it has ejectors it would most likely be a 410E which is a higher grade gun and would be worth in the $1,200-$1,400 range.

I have a 409 in 12 that looks pretty much identical.

Pull the forend off and see if there isn't a " 409 " or " 409 PB " branded into
that part of the forend covered by the left barrel .

Good, solid workhorse of a double.
