The ears of the barrel lug, on the Springfield 1911-A1 in .40s+w I just got snapped off yesterday when I finished off the last of two boxes of Winchester whitebox. (maybe 120 rounds) Doing slow target work.

Looking for recommendations for a new barrel and a vendor that carries them, that might also carry tac star mag, as I would like to pick up some 10 round mags for this as I was planing to enter IPSC with this gun.




Side question, can you put a 45 barrel in a 40 frame????:confused:
 
Del Selin 250 545 6413 He is a dealer here. The shop is in Vernon BC I know he had a new 40 cal barrel for the 1911. give him a shout.

As far as I know you can convert your 1911 to 45 acp. Need to change a few things but it can be done. Best to call a gunsmith getthe 411 and what is needed. Ask Del.

If thats a new gun I would rather be taking it back to be replaced.Bottom lugs shear off when the barrel has been incorrectly fitted and impact back into the frame with recoil,and this shouldnt happen witha new gun.

If you are getting a new barrel,make sure its fitted by someone who knows what they are doing(ie they usually arent drop in parts)
