I see lots of rifle cases online, just wondering what the better cases are? I’m looking for something with decent padding. Anyone have a preference or recommendation?

Thanks

Soft case, hard case, fabric, leather, plastic, metal, scope or not, length, fitted or universal, lockable, lightweight or rugged, airline approved, room for accessories, budget??? and what does Decent padding mean to you? What do you want?

You need to expand on what youre looking for.

I use cheap cases because I dont do anything remotely dangerous with them. If I was in conditions I was worred theyd be damaged through the case I'd spend more.

General things to look for - Nose cap, as this will be the failure point if it doesnt have one. Sooner or later the barrel will poke through the zipper.
- If its to be used hunting, a shoulder strap is handy. Depending on where im going, I'll bring a full case as opposed to a gunsock to encase after dark. The strap is nice for the walk back.

I've had good luck with plano cases, made in the USA. They even have built in locks, so they would technically work for going to the range with restricteds.

I've been looking at double soft cases, and might get one of these from amazon. The reviews are pretty good, but does anyone here have any experience with them? I have a couple of the typical tapered zip up cases meant for hunting rifles, but they aren't big enough to fit a rifle with a big scope and bipod.
