Broad Arrow with WD is WAR DEPARTMENT: British marking, also seen on so many old Canadian rifles, but NOT a true Canadian mark.
Canadian mark incorporated the Broad Arrow with a capital letter C, was first seen about the time of the Great War.
Canadian markings from that time-frame would include MD, M&D or DC in a diamond.
Hope this helps.
GRANTR should be aboard shortly, I would think. He KNOWS these old ones where I GUESS.
