Can Canadians Compete At Camp Perry?

any such canadian servicerifle or such / similar shoots in eastern canada / maritimes ?

Some years we have run one Service Conditions match (usually mid-August), some years we have not. There is one guy who runs it, It's a matter of whether he decides to do it or not. If you want to PM me I can put you in touch with him, and we can both nag him a bit....

Thanks fellas.

I suppose my question is this: do we have a service rifle event for Canada equivalent to Camp Perry, and if so what are the dates and locations? I don't really care about winning, I will get spanked whether I shoot in the USA or Canada...I just want to shoot old style slings n' irons but I am not interested in run n' gun all that much.

The short answer is no. Service rifle has been eroded in Canada to a shadow of its former self. Which is a shame as we currently have the best civilian course of fire going. Your best bet is to come to BC and compete May 31-June 2. That said don't wait to long to submit your entry I think we are at 60+ of the 96 spots.

Sling up or don't, use irons or a scope, make the three short runs (2 are 100m and one is 400m over 5 minutes) or opt out but come out and have some fun.

It would be interesting to schedule at least one NRA course of fire match as part of the ORA service rifle program.
I'd shoot it.

It would be interesting to see the NM course of fire offered. I can think of a private ON range that could handle it, although in metric.

The ORA had a match like that last year at Cedar Springs. There was not a lot of interest at least the first time through. Maybe try to get hold of Maynard to see if they are doing it again this year. You can usually find him on the Precision Competition forum.

Be very careful trying to bring in "US Supplied War Material" like the 1903 Springfield & the M1 Garand. I had my Winchester M97 Trench Gun rejected from entry last year for that reason on my Form 6NIA. Maybe a commercial Springfield M1A is the only way to go?

One lung, there is a service rifle type of match tomorrow at 11:00 at the Spruce Grove Gun Club. See the sticky at the top of this forum for more info.

Thanks Ten Guns - I was going to make that one but I came down with the plague and had a charming weekend with a cold/flu instead. Are those matches at Spruce Grove any good?

Here's where I am at as a shooter: I want something that emphasizes slings and irons, and is a little more serious than a postal shoot/weiner roast...but not so competitive that the cheaters, the anal retentives and the stuffed shirts come out. I shoot for blood when I am on the range but when the curtain comes down it's time for coffee, BS, and maybe some hog washing as well. I shoot for fun and for meat and that's about it. I would like to get in with some guys that think the same way.
