There is literally no lands near the end of the barrel

So it might not hit the broad side of a barn..
The other rifle I have has been butchered...the stock cut and bolt bent..But has the Mum still on it and a nice looking bore

I had thought about transferring it to this ones stock, But the barrel is about 4 inches longer and it don't look proper to my eye side by side.

I never had any intent of hunting with this.
Just a cool old piece of history from a time long before I was made;)

I guess it is a Plinker for once in a while.
Cast the chamber just now(My first time doing that)

I have the proper ammo
 
If you can slug the bore Hornady makes a 160gr Carcano bullet that may grip the rifling better.Mexico ordered the Arisaka in 7x57 and only received the first shipment as they didn't pay and got no more.Harold
 
I have a carbine 38 as well. Bullet drops in the muzzle the exact same way. Looks near identical to mine over all. At 50 yards it cant hit a pumpkin but ill probally never sell it just out of the wonder of what use she had to shoot her out and beat it up somuch.

Yea this one has some pretty good dents in the wood... that are very very old

its still something to have in the collection some people will bash the beat up milsurps but they tell a better story then the pristine examples

Theres more cool history in this Old rifle than there is in most.
There is simply no way that rust caused all the damage to the bore, it had to have been mostly shot out when I got it:p

I went to Bartons looking for the bullets ^^^
Came home with 4 more boxes of 6.5 Jap ammo;)

They are sold out of it now lol

I bought two boxes of that same Norma ammo at a gun show a few years back for $40. I ran one of them through my battle weary type 38 at 100 meters, and didn't touch paper. Too bad, cause the recoil on that rifle is comparable to a .22, very pleasant to operate!

It is indeed , less recoil than an sks
I think I want another in full military dress...But with a bit of rifling in the bore still
