[Looks at dad bod in the mirror] Yep, pretty sure I'm the stuff Olympians are made of, maybe not in the right places, but it's all in there somewhere. Where do I sign up? Some sort of form or something? Anyone know the phone number of the Olympic Committee? There isn't anyone willing to pay me, so I have the amateur status locked down. I've got me a .22lr target pistol, a functioning trigger finger, and I can (given enough time and ammo) eventually hit the target. Team Canada, here I come.

The way society is going these days, even if you are not one, you can identify as one and get away with it and if anyone calls you out, claim discrimination that you are not allowed to express your true self.
Now excuse me while I attempt to do my 1 rep of 5 push ups (that's my limit and that's OK, as that is how I express myself with my physical limitations as part of competitive and performance diversity) to get into shape to compete for Canada in 2024.
If a man can claim he is a woman and walks into a female change room, why can I not claim myself an Olympian involving in competition shooting?

There are certain rules that must be followed including the types of guns allowed in competitions.
Chances are, you don't have one that would qualify. For one thing mainly single shot 22LRs and air pistols only.

I know this is satire but if you could persuade the various orgs to include IPSC or similar as an Olympic demonstration sport we actually have a chance. Since breakdancing and 10 pin bowling have been/are demonstration sports this isn’t as outlandish as you think.
Not a chance lad. The ISSF has been toadies to the IOC for decades, and has been steadily dismantling the shooting programs as being offensive to many and requiring too much for so little attention - ever see any aspect of shooting on national or international tv? They have gotten rid of 300 metre rifle, centrefire pistol in both it’s individual game and as part of Modern Pentathlon, all .22 shooting is gone once the very last iteration of Rapidfire takes place. The ONLY remnant of shooting handguns at the Olympics is 10metre air pistol and the laser guns now in Modern Pentathlon. And the government does NOT give a sh*t about whether or not we earn quota slots in these games. Too late and too little - damn I’m glad to be near the end - anyone want to buy some top grade precision match pistols?

Olympic events currently are 10m air pistol, 25m Pistol (sport) and rapid fire. I think after three matches you can earn a classification. At this point you’re well position to say you’re training for one of the Olympic events. You might enjoy it.
I suspect many IPSC shooters could be good Olympic rapid fire shooters

I suspect (hope) that many of the commonly used pistols in ISSF (Olympic style) pistol competition will be given an exemption. .32 is currently a banned caliber (in general) but certain ISSF pistols (Walther GSP, Hammerli, Pardini etc.>) were given exemptions. Maybe this will continue?
Here’s an article from last year about Japan's gun laws and what their pistol community looks like today. Only 500 permits. Olympic coach can’t even touch the firearm himself, if he has to tweak it, the shooter must be touching the firearm while the coach works on the gun. Ammo stored with the gov’t to replenish your maximum 800 rounds. A little perspective on where Turd wants this to go.
