can I buy just the reciver and barrel? (remington 700)

My AICS stock arrived this week, and I'm going to be putting a remington 700 7mm into it - can I just order the action and barrel from someone? For some reason I've been assuming that it's not an issue, but when I started looking around I've not seen any resellers website that mentions ordering specific parts. Am I going to be able to do this, or will I have to buy a full rifle and then have an extra stock lying around?

Probably not. I assume that you don't just want the receiver and barrel, you want a barrelled action, less magazine and trigger guard.
Usually folks buy a rifle, and sell the parts that are surplus.
 
Sure, no problem, but it will come with a stock, trigger guard, magazine and a box! It will also be the same price as a complete rifle!

Check Brownells' website....they used to sell Ruger and Sako barrelled actions and unbarrelled Sako actions for people to build custom rifles. I don't think they sold the Rem 700 though.
 
yeah... I know I can just buy a rifle and sell the stock - my point was that I don't want to.

Although it does look like I have no choice, alas. I suppose I'll just buy an sps then, unless something happens to turn up in the buy/sell forums in the next little while. Thanks for the help y'all.

I seem to recall something in a magazine saying remington was going to start selling M700 actions. I remember being shocked at the price though, so it might not be a sound alternative.
