2 Questions...

I have 2 bushnell 6500's with the regular dust caps/turrets underneath... Does anyone know if I can add/replace the regular turrets with target turrets on this scope?

2nd question, can I hunt/leave the elevation dust cap off or would this be a bad idea (grit/moisture/etc?)?

I am hoping to source out something that fits over the existing turret but can't find anything as of yet - Kenton does make, but they are simply replacements for the factory LProfile turrets under the dust caps on that model scope... you still have to put the dust caps back on...

Thank you!

As for using the target turrets for hunting, unles you are shooting past 350 yards you should not need to adjust things anyways. Just zero your rifle for 200-225 yards, depending on calibre and bullets....work it out on any of the ballistic calculators. And you should be within 4 inches of drop. If you are shooting past that chances are it wont be a quick offhand shot. So you will have the time to range the critter, adjust turrets and finally get set to pull the trigger. I got target turrets on my rifles, a couple nightforce, a mark 4 leupold, trijicon, had to adjust them only a handful of times for longer shots, greater than 500 yards. But would of had time to drink a pop before the critter really moved any great distance.
As for retro-fitting your turrets....no idea, but chances are it would be just easier to sell them and buy ones with the turrets you want.

Yes I am aware of the hunting thing - this is for up to 1000yd and have the ball calc already, I am just wondering if I can put the adjust dials on these scopes that I already have, and wondering if I 'need' the dust caps...
Thanks tho!

if you want a tactical/target scope just buy one. do some research while you're in the process. i've never read anything so ridiculous.

Korth Industries - the Leupold distributor in Canada - will retrofit target knobs to Leupold scopes. The old Redfield company would do the same.
Perhaps Bushnell will retrofit their scopes.

Very helpful comment! Thank you!

Actually if you do some research, there are scopes that you can replace turrets if you wish - Kenton Industries, Stoney Point, and some models of Leupold and Vortex have exchangeable turrets.
I was just wondering if anyone has or knew of the possibility of doing this with the scopes I have, or if I do replace with Kentons, if it is ok to leave the dust caps off - can't seem to find any info as to whether scopes are sealed below the turrets and if it is safe to run without the protective caps.

Thanks to those that offered constructive comments!
