Hey
So I know your going to think I’m retarded but..lol
These 6.5 PRC are rarer than hens teeth and even more bothersome is the fact , I now have an uneven number of cases.. lol I hate to have to throw it away.

Can this case be fireformed back to shape?

I feel your pain as I've had the same experience on occasion. I've never been able to successfully reverse the procedure that results in accordioned case necks though. Tried a few times with no success basically as a challenge of sorts. I've never tried to fireform something like that back to it's original form and to be honest I'd be a bit leery of trying it.

Not in my experience! If you fire formed I suspect that it would be prone to splitting - the case is certainly weakened with such a tight fold.

I have never tried, but wouldn't the COW method of case forming be worth a try - not sure of powder amount - say 10 grains Unique or similar, or shotgun powder to start - not really very much to lose, except cost of a primer?? No clue how long the re-formed case might last - is just a few steps worse than having excess lube in a die - ripple shoulders - next firing seems to clean it right up??

I got some unique kicking around.

That is not a belted or rimmed case, so hoping that the "crushed case" has enough shoulder left at front to headspace that case in your chamber, to fire the primer?

I have a few here from failed attempts to form 9.3x57 from 8x57 cases - took too big of jump in diameter and the expander shape just pushed back the shoulder like you show - had never really thought to blow them out - had other cases on hand, and eventually used intermediate size expander which got me to where I wanted to be. Keep us posted if that works for you or not.

I think your probability of success is low. But trying won't be hard or expensive, so why not?

Crush it into a resizing die, it'll chamber after that.

Fireform with a wax slug or cream of wheat, see what happens. Let everyone know the result!

I’m good folks , no need to send me brass.
I have a couple of hundred lapua on the way.

Just hate ruining rare expensive stuff .. lol

Thanks for the offers though.
You as well Dave.

I started loading precision rifle this year from fancy shiny expensive new Lapua brass. Over the first 1200 or so I loaded so far, I've wrecked about 8 cases. I kept them all in a little bag near by press to remind me to be careful with them, they are precious.
