Can I get aperture rear and globe front sight on CZ 455 or Tikka T1x?

Considering getting into the sporting rifle events (club / inter-club level as a start) but really can’t afford (get the funding approved) for an annie.

One experienced rifleman told me I can use Savage Mark II. But all the discussion here makes me really want to get a CZ or Tikka.

Just wondering if there are peep sights for CZ or Tikka. Has anyone done this before?

Thank you.

There are options for the CZ, but the Tikka T1X has no provision for mounting a front sight. The most straightforward answer that is affordable might well be the Savage Mark II FVT, which is available with a rear aperture sight and a front globe.

I have a williams FP-CZ rear peep sight on my cz 455 trainer. Fits snugly on 11mm dovetails. It works very well and is an improvement over the already great tangent sights. The aperture it comes with is a bit large for my liking so I bought an aperture with a smaller hole (0.05 inch) and a larger diameter (0.5 inch). However, I coudlnt find either in Canada and had to buy them from the US. It works fine with the stock front sight of a cz 455, but the width of the front post can obscure smaller targets at longer distances.

The front globe sight situation is a bit more tricky. AFAIK there is no globe front sight mount or adapter for the CZ455. The BRNO mod 4 adapter does not work. One option to consider would be to remove the front ramp and replace it with a Williams 3/8 shorty dovetail mount (or equivalent). Then mount a Lyman 17 (or anything with a 3/8 dovetail) 3/8 front globe sight. Problem is the stock front ramp is sweated or glued on so removing it is a PITA and probably involves going to a gunsmith.

A front globe sight is doable, but I think you would be better off buying a rifle that already comes with globe sights. The savage mk II FVT is honestly great value for money (never tried this specific MKII variant myself, but I have shot other MKIIs and they shoot great). Alternatively plenty of good but pricer options on the EE like the BRNO 4.

I had the FVT. It's a great shooter. The only 2 reasons I sold it are I managed to get a BRNO #1 already set up with aperture sight rear and globe front and the magazine construction and retention in the savage.

there are clamp on front sites that can be used on smooth barrels and any rear sight that will work on an 11mm dovetail can be used on the rear, the height of the two sites have to match in order to get the proper adjustment on them, it's been done and can be done if you know where to get the parts, Brownells for a start on the front site, tradex for a fine selection of rear sights

Thank you, yodave. First of all, I didn’t get the FVT on EE. I will really looking into the clamps. I really like the idea of a nice wood stock bolt (CZ) with aperture sights.

Later if I get bored of punching holes on paper. Mounting a scope will be easier, I am sure.

Anschutz 190s come up on the EE periodically. With sights , they would likely be no more than the 455 or T1X. The accuracy for iron sight sporting matches is more than adequate and the vertical pistol grip lends itself better to position shooting. They were/are the rifle to use for Canadian Sporting Rifle competition. They can be mounted with optics for versatility.
