Can I get steel core, or AP 338lm bullets?

Looking for some steel core or AP bullets for my 338LM.
Buddy has an old inline 6 diesel engine on his farm, and we want to see if we can get a bullet clean through it. 223 steel core can't even make it into the cylinder, although it leaves a nasty looking pothole.

Can you buy steel core or AP bullets for the 338? Is it legal even? If I can get it, where?

Perhaps you could make your own?

get a Paper Patch bullet mould of around, say 0.332, with grooves at least 0.006 deep.

than cast a bullet, and measure the exact groove diameter,

get a tungsten core of that diameter - 0.0005 or so... with a nose profile slightly sharper than the mould, so it will allow lead to flow along and form part of the nose

cut some relief grooves in the moulds grooves to allow lead to flow through to the nose.

heat the core with a torch, heat the mould on a hot plate. when hot, insert the core in the mould and cast the lead around it.

once cool, should PP well, with a nice wrap of lead around the core to protect the barrel.

it should be heavy, so should shoot well to the limit of powder speeds.

I kind of want to try that because I think it would be fun. But have a feeling it will be a lot more work than I am expecting and might be hard to get a nice balanced bullet out of it.
Although might be easier to drill out a bullet and add a tungsten rod to it??? A drill press and good bit should make a nice straight hole right?

Lapua makes an AP round I'm not sure if you can get in Canada though, hirschprecision.com is the importer for all things Lapua. Here is the info off the Lapua web site:

Gotta be careful punching a hole in the jacket of certain types of bullets that travel at high velocity... you start getting into the risk of shedding the jacket, the lead/ tungsten leaving the barrel, but the jacket getting stuck in the barrel.

338LM AP would be very cool to try.

Barnes solids have Tungsten cores.
