I bought this .45 cal 200 gr mold with the intent of casing for my .45 ACP. Being new to casting I'm kind of lost with the details of casting. Now that I've finally gotten to prepare to do some casting I see the Lee instructions indicate these bullets are for black powder.

Did I just waste $40? I have no plans to get into black powder rifles.

The REAL mold is disigned for muzzle loaders... You would need a lee 452 round nose probaly the one they have for tumble lube..There was a thread a coupla weeks ago about this in 50 some were using it for light loads in a revolver.. The acp because of the taper crimp I would have to beleive this would be a very bad idea.. There is a 45cal muzzle loader on EE.. Don't waste the mold buy a gun

$40 for that mold is a great price.
Check and measure the diameter of the bullet.
You can try loading a few dummy rounds to see if it would feed in your pistol.

I have a 45 caliber 250 grain "real" mold , each band is a different diameter .

it might be a good mold for a antique with a oversized bore ( oversize being larger that the standard .452 / .454 bullet diameters )
