Looking to see if I can make a 260 Remington stag 10?

I have a new upper reciever and would like to bulid it with a 260 barrel. What else different do I need?

I’ve got one. Nothing different other than barrel will have to be custom made. Mine came from Mystic Precision, McGowen 20”. Haven't shot it enough but seems promising so far. Have had some trouble with it chambering some brass. Need to shoot it more to fully know why. I would stick with 6.5 creedmoor unless you really wanna be different.

Stick with 6.5 creedmoor, off the shelf bbl options, factory ammo easy to get.

I have an extra Stag upper that just became available after the buyer welched on the deal. Thinkin I may wait for a 338 federal bbl and just keep it since I have a creedmoor. Faxon bbl is submoa BTW, hard to go wrong at 350$

Great start.... Chambers will lean on the SAAMI min spec side so you may need to size the brass down a bit more????

If you have any issues, give me a shout. Look forward to your updates.

Thanks
Jerry

I am a 260 fan through and through, have shot one for a decade and puke when the 6.5CM fanboys tell me how awesome they're cartridge is.

But I will admit, after shooting an RPR in 6.5CM at 720y and stacking the shots I have gained respect for the little round.

Now its on my radar as a "readily available smaller 260" lol.

Go 6.5, its popularity has made it easy to find ammo if you dont reload and brass if you do.....at the expense of a 100fps ;)

They're both excellent rounds with nearly identical ballistics. In identical bolt action rifles you can't really go wrong with either cartridge.
The difference is that the CM lets you use your case capacity and still load the bullet out longer. The 260 would not be as good of a choice in an auto loader where you're so limited by magazine length and the projectile will have to take up case capacity.
No need to get upset, just pull up beside them and show them their new hot rod doesn't do anything old trusty won't.
I have a CM in a bolt action and a semi, I don't think it's better than the 260, just another case of more than one way to skin a cat.
