I am thinking to seat a bullet in a piece of new brass and then fill up the primer pocket with hot glue or something
i am trying to make a few for an enfield

What other suggestion do u have on the materials used to fill the primer pocket that can protect the firing pin?

Thanks

A good idea would be to make them as distiguishable as possible. Drill holes in the side of the case. Make it so when you pick them up from any angle you will know they are not live rounds.

If they look the same as live rounds there is a greater possibility that you could mix some live rounds with your dummys and not notice until it is too late.

thanks for the reminder
would the drilled hole affect chambering/extracting/loading in the enfield mag with clip?

The drilled holes are a good idea for marking them as snap caps and it won't affect the chambering, extracting or loading. What I use in the primer pocket is something I got from this site quite a while back, glue from my glue gun. Smooth it off level right after you put it in, let it cool for a couple of minutes and away you go.

but is it ok if i just use the glue from the hot glue gun?
After it is cooled will the firing pin stick with the glue upon striking?

Sorry, thats what I used and ment to say, the glue from a hot glue gun. The firing pin won't stick once the glue has cooled. I've got a lot of dry firings out of mine without having to replace the 'glue primer'.

hey he stole my idea...:p

Sorry man, I had no idea it was your idea. Patent?
Actually the hot melt glue sounds like a better idea. I'll try that someday when I run out of erasers, and if I break a firing pin on a $2000.00 shotgun I'll come after you guys for damages. Oops, just remembered; I don't have, never have had, and never will have a $2000.00 shotgun. Guess you're all safe.;)
