Ok I know this title sound weird , you all must be WTF ?

I have a Ruger M77 MK2 All weather 270WSM.
First I bought for hunting is was a real piece of junk until I started reloading.
I am now a range addict at 100m and 200m (ranges in my area dont go further then that)
I was planning to sell it and buy a dedicated range rifle .308 (will still be able to go moose hunting with a 308)

Im still a noob but I think 270WSM is a bit overkill for paper below 200m, it does beat crap out of my shoulder, become fire hot after 3 shots and it scare the s**t out of the guys next to me at the range everytime I pull the trigger.

Can I change the barrel on that thing for a bull barrel. can it be modified to .308 ? I could be all wrong on this but buying another rifle might cost more them Modding this one

these ruger are bullet proof all SS Solid and bulky no cheap plastic parts , Im sure it must be worthed
what do you think ?

I would keep it for hunting or long range shooting. Save your money and get a cheap bolt in 308 rather then tring to convert it.

I believe anything is possible if you throw enough money at it. Question is, even if it's cheaper than buying a new .308, are you going to be happy with it? In the end, you'll have a modified Ruger, and while I have great respect for Rugers (I have owned a P85 and still own a Ruger Mk.1 .22), there are much better platforms to build on.
I'd start saving and buy a really good .308 with a heavy barrel, something meant from the beginning to be a serious target rifle. The Savage suggestion was a good one, and others will chime in with good ideas too.
