I know Numrich won't send certain parts to Canada because of the US gov't. Would this include a T stock from a STEN?

It seems it's on their restricted list but I wonder if that includes all parts.

Legal or not, it seems that you have a 50/50 chance of loosing it to customs. Seems that it depends who opens it, and how they interpret things and if the moon is in Sagitarius.

As I understand it you can legally order any part other than the receiver, bolt, and barrel.

That statement would be correct in some cases. But...

In this case, it isn't just the ITAR restrictions that you have to worry about.

The Sten is a prohibited weapon and any parts for it are similarly restricted/prohibited from importation to Canada. Parts for a prohibited weapon may not be imported (unless you have an import certificate). You may apply to DFAIT for permission to import and they may - or may not - deign to permit it.

If you place a WTB in the EE, I'll bet that a Sten stock, in Canada, will find you - and right quick too.

A sten is not necessarily always a prohibited weapon. If it were people would not be building them and registering them with the CFC. :)

the sten is NOT just a prohib anymore there are semi auto only ones restricted only

BUT you will not get approval for ANY parts from a FA

I could not even get a rivit for my semi 1919 i ended up makeing one instead

watch the fourms they come up here every so often

I dont mean to hijack, but how about a colt m4 stock from brownells? and a few 1911 parts? Is that not allowed either?

If the parts are valued at less than $100 it's legal to ship them. Brownells will not ship parts if it's illegal for them to do so.

AR parts may be problematic, the 1911 ones should be no problem, as long as the frame, barrel and slide are not involved, and the total value of the order is under US$100 at wholesale.
Contact Sandy Moranville, the export manager at Brownells, and she will be able to tell you what they can and cannot ship.

It all depends on the US counterpart. Half will ship and in my experience the parts always come through, and the other hald are too paranoid to try and tell you you're SOL.

I've had Sten stocks shipped from the states with no trouble what-so-ever. I've also shipped sten parts to the US and even a sten stock overseas to the UK and never once had a problem with customs.

With regard to Numrich, I had tried a couple of times to get parts for my Boys anti tank rifle from them. I would get everything else from my order, but couldn't even get simple screws for the Boys. It is on their list of guns which they can't export parts for. The Boys is listed as a destructive device in the US.

On the same token, they did ship some minor Bren items to me, and that gun is also on their no-exports list.

You are missing a key word on this statement, and that is exclusively for a prohibited weapon. Since there is now a FRT in Canada for a semi auto sten, and it uses this very same stock, then that part (along with a myriad of others....just about everything except the stripped bolt, the magwell, and the receiver tube) doesn't meet the "exclusively" criteria anymore.
