Can I put a Win 70 Stock on my Cooey M-71?

I recently picked up this Cooey model 71 .308. it is virtually the same as a Win-70. I have a 1972 Win 70 and everything appears the same except the Cooey has a different safety and does not have a hinged floor plate. The actions are the same (both long action) the bolt is a bit different but not worried about the bolt fitting in a stock :D

Anyway, the cooey has a small hairline crack and no checkering, no big deal but I need to mod the stock to fit a lady and would rather keep the original stock as is, for a little piece of Canadiana.

If I were to do this, would I need a Pre-64 stock? or any Win70 stock? I heard I may have to make some minor mods.

The Cooey receiver is round, the M70 is flat bottomed. Look for a post '64 - push feed - stock, with a blind magazine. It is going to take some work, including bedding.

A Model 70A stock will go on, if you can find one. The recoil lug is 1/8" farther back on the Cooey though. Easy fix. Just route out the recoil lug hole in the 70A stock and glass bed with an Acraglas Kit. The trigger guards aren't the same either. The 70A's is longer and isn't deep enough for the Cooey trigger. Use the Cooey guard with just the front screw. The rear screw only holds the guard on. It doesn't go into the receiver at all. The front screw does. It'll hold the guard on, by itself, just fine.
Mine's a .243. Put the 70A stock on(glass bedded), black phosphated the steel and did a trigger job about 27 years ago. Glass bedding didn't improve the accuracy a bit, but it is consistent. The rifle looks fabulous though.

Got a pic? especially the trigger guard if you have it.

You say Glass bedding didn't improve the accuracy, how is the accuracy on these? would assume comparable to the Mod 70.
I got the cooey mainly for the fact that it is a Canadian made .308, I also wanted something for my wife to shoot. I may just modify the existing stock and get some Pachmayr skins to act as checkering and I will likely install a mercury recoil reducer and Limbsaver for her. The trick will be to make it small enough for her, yet big enough for me, cause I will definitely want to shoot it!.
