I bought a brand new Accuracy International AX308 rifle with a NightForce ATACR 7-35x56-f1 scope just before it became prohibited. It's never been fired. I've been told that some newly prohibited rifles scan be sold/exported to the US but not all of them, like ARs.

Can someone tell me if this rifle can be sold/exported to the U.S and if so, a broker/exporter who can to do that for me?

Dad forget to log out?...

I have yet to hear of a Bolt Action 7.62 Nato added to the list, and since it would cause some Fudds to ask uncomfortable questions I can't see that happening for at least a few election cycles.

If you are concerned I'd list it on the EE asap...make sure you list it cheap, because with your trader rating and the above question you might find selling it difficult unless it's face to face.

Canada has no issue exporting stuff, the US on the other hand has issues with what gets imported.
IrunGuns might be able to guide you. Other than anything 50cal not aware of bolt actions being banned.

It is NOT prohibited. AX rifles are only prohibited when configured so that they generate 10,000+ joules of muzzle energy. The AX was included because there have been large-caliber conversions done on AI's AX-MC rifles which do exceed 10k joules.

Your rifle is not prohibited. Go ahead and use it freely.

Thanks much for the clarification. I just saw below and it doesn't saying anything about conversions and I didn't know how many joules of muzzle energy a stock AX produces. I assumed it meant that all AX's produced that muzzle velocity and are therefore banned:

96 Any firearm capable of discharging a projectile with a muzzle energy greater than 10,000 joules — other than one referred to in item 12, 13, 14, 20, 22 or 30 of this Part or one designed exclusively for the purpose of neutralizing explosive devices — including the

(a) AAO 2000;
(b) Accuracy International AW50;
(c) Accuracy International AS50;
(d) Accuracy International AX;

Well that has to suck owning a rifle for a year you've never fired and under the assumption it was prohibited. Bet you can't wait to try er out now! :)

You should do your research. An AX308 is not prohibited.

Again, you need to do some research and reading comprehension is your friend.

To be fair that part of the OIC is not super clear it lists the 50
Cal models then says just plain AX right next to it.
