I used to shoot them in my Grandmothers garden normally I would use a salt shaker but now you can get a salt gun. I did pick a few off with a 22LR was interesting...
 
I realize that this particular shotgun isn't as nice or functional as a high end Benelli but I also didn't pay a high end price. I am new to the firearms world and wanted a cheap shotgun and this fit the bill. It also looks like a lot of fun to shoot. I've never owned a shotgun before and didn't think it would be wise to rush out and grab one that would be an expensive space taker with the amount I shoot. I didn't realize however, that this place would be filled with a bunch of high horse riding #######s with nothing better to do than be jerks to some one looking for an honest answer.
 
Your downfall was calling your shotgun, a shotty. It's just unnecessary shoddy use of the language.

Usually around here, if you don't do a basic Google search before you post you'll be given heck for it by someone else who knows how to use Google better than you!

Cylinder Bore means there is no choke in your barrel, it's completely open with no constriction. So shooting slugs is perfectly fine, it's ideal for slugs. Check below for most common chokes and their general use, might help you out.....


Full Choke This has tight constriction and a dense pattern, delivering approximately 70 percent of a shell's total pellets in a 30" circle at 40 yards. Best for trap shooting, waterfowl pass shooting, turkey hunting and buckshot loads.

Modified Choke The modified is characterized by less constriction than full choke, delivering approximately 60 percent of a shell's total pellets in a 30" circle at 40 yards. Excellent for all-around hunting of waterfowl, long-range flushing of upland birds as well as other small game. Also used for trap shooting.

Improved Cylinder Choke Even less constricted than modified, the improved cylinder distributes approximately 50 percent of a shell's total pellets in a 30" circle at 40 yards. Ideal for close-in small game shooting, upland bird hunting as well as hunting waterfowl close over decoys. Rifled slugs also perform very well with this choke.

Cylinder Bore No constriction and distributes approximately 40 percent of a shell's total pellets in a 30" circle at 40 yards. Most often used by law enforcement for service shotguns, self defense etc.

There are many more different chokes, but these are the most common as far as I know.

You can also shoot slugs from choked barrels as well, up to about Modified Choke as far as I know, somebody correct me if I am wrong. And there is nothing wrong with your question, everybody was a newbie at one point. :) So cheers and congrats on your new shotgun.
