Can I shoot these??

I have a IGA 410 backpacker shotgun w/ a 3" chamber. Can I safely shoot 2 3/4" slugs out of it? I do not know what bore it has in it.....as it is not marked on the shotgun anywhere. Can I assume its a cylinder bore?

Assume nothing.

Do you have a way to measure the inside muzzle diameter.

Here are the bore diameters for a .410 boring:

Full Choke: .396"
Modified: .405"
Imp. Cyl.: .408"
Cylinder: .410", of course.

Even if your barrel is a FULL choke, slugs will fit through it. I've shot rifled slugs and sabots out of a full choke to no banana peel effect.

Word of caution, I would not attempt to shoot .45 LC cartridges out of it no matter what constriction your .410 has.

Yes you can. My dad has the same gun. There is no reason why you couldn't.

Woodsman is correct,u can shoot any 410 shell inclufing slugs

I think mine is IC choke. (mine is definatly marked, just can't remember what)

2 3/4 is fine.

Son and I both have a backpacker and yes, it will shoot anything that says 410 on it.
Now, hitting anything is a whole 'nother question.

Rifled Foster style slugs often shoot better through tighter chokes.

Can't confirm but read its modified choke on my backpacked I don't have vernier.........and I meant 2 1/2" slugs. They don't make 410's in 2 3/4" duh.

i have a stainless snake charmer. it is cyl bore and it shoots
45 colt acurately. i would like to get my hands on
some 410 000buck. it can,t be had here.

LOL, make sure you have a BIG backstop when shootting slugs through that backpacker. We shot some one time and they were flyer to say the least!
